She gave birth to Athena inside of Zeus and crafted her a helmet, shield, and spear. As Athena developed in Zeus’s noggin, he got a real doozy of a headache. Finally, it became too much for him to bear so he had Hephaestus whack open his head with an ax. Out popped Athena!
